About Me
My name is Mr. Jan and I am your second grade teacher. I am looking forward to getting to know you and your child and working together to experience an exciting and fulfilling school year at Edison Elementary. As parents and guardians, I understand that you are the most important teachers in your child’s life and it is with that understanding that I appreciate the role that you and I each play in the partnership to your child achieving the goals set forth for them.
I was born and raised in the Czech Republic where I obtained my Masters Degree in Primary Education at Palacky University. After receiving my degree I continued my post- graduate education with the University of Bath in the UK and obtained two International Teacher Certificates with the University of Cambridge. I have eleven years of teaching experience in various teaching and leadership roles at international schools in Thailand, Mexico and Belgium. I moved to Colorado with my partner in 2014, obtained my Colorado Teacher License, and started working at the Family Crisis Center as a Special Education/Math Teacher. I love travelling, reading, skiing, and coloring. Another big passion of mine is long distance running and since moving to Colorado I ran several 10K, 10 mile and half marathon races.
I will be teaching your child reading, writing, Math, Science and Social studies. I love all of the subjects that I teach but it is especially my goal to instill a lifelong passion of reading and writing in all of my students. I have very high expectations of myself as a teacher as well as of my students and I have always found that to be a formula for success! I am an advocate of a child focused learning environment where everyone can experience academic success and also have a lot of fun!
I am looking forward to getting to know you and cannot wait to hear from your children what they have been up to this summer. Parents are always invited to visit our classroom and stop by for a chat.
Let's have fun!
